Thickener Features

(1) Incorporates a degassing tank to prevent solid particles from adhering to bubbles and causing parachute-like settling.

(2) The feed pipe is positioned below the liquid surface to prevent gas entrainment during feeding.

(3) The feed sleeve is lowered and equipped with a receiving tray, enabling uniform and stable slurry descent. This effectively prevents splashing caused by residual feed pressure.

(4) An internal overflow weir is added to guide material flow along the specified path, preventing “short-circuiting.”

(5) The overflow weir is modified to a serrated profile, mitigating suction effects caused by localized drainage due to weir misalignment;

(6) The rake tooth profile is changed from linear to curved, directing slurry toward the center while applying a “compacting” force. This increases the concentration of the underflow, thereby boosting processing capacity.

Advantages of the thickener include simple construction, easy operation, low power consumption, and favorable technical performance. Disadvantages are its large footprint and unsuitability for coarse-grained materials, which can easily cause blockages. To maintain stability during slurry sedimentation and concentration, the rake movement speed—designed based on edge linear velocity—must not exceed 7–8 m/min. For coarser, readily settling materials, the rake's linear velocity may be appropriately increased. If concentrating exceptionally fine particles, the rake's linear velocity should not exceed 3–4 m/min.
